CAT
Feral Friends
aboutus
Stray and feral cats have often had a very difficult life. They have to survive hunger, harsh weather, pregnancy, disease and injury. Abandoned cats have their whole world turned upside down when they go from a loving home to a shelter. Our aim is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome these cats. Cat -Feral friends was formed in February 2021 with the aim of rehoming and caring for lost, stray and abandoned cats.
We are a small group based in South Leicestershire, UK and cover Lutterworth across to Hinckley up to Leicester and all the villages within those areas. We have a policy to ensure that no cat in our care is put down except in extreme cases of illness or injury, with veterinary advice.
The group was formed by people who had been involved with other animal charity work and who shared a like-minded interest in cat welfare. Many of the members involved have a wealth of experience built up over many years dealing with a wide variety of animals. All the members are volunteers and the group relies on the fundraising skills of our hard-working fundraising team as well as donations from members of the public.
Information on upcoming events are available on the Upcoming Events page. Our activities often require the services of the local veterinary practices and their support is invaluable in caring for cats with sometimes complex medical problems. Over the years members have built up a close working relationship with the vets and we hope to retain this working relationship as the group grows We are a small volunteer run local charity with the main aim of reducing the numbers of unwanted cats and kittens by the tried and tested method of trap/neuter/return. Cats are trapped humanely, taken to the vet, neutered, and after a period of recuperation released back into their home territory.
Colonies of cats whether in back gardens, farms, building sites, or industrial areas, can breed so rapidly that even rabbits blink. Our aim is to stop this proliferation of unwanted kittens who live short and miserable lives and whose mothers breed and breed until they are worn out and wretched.
A pair of breeding cats can, in their lifetimes, produce 20,000 offspring. Cats HIDE. There can be 50 cats in your area, and you may only see 8/9...
Cats breed at a phenomenal rate. If you feed a feral or stray cat, please contact your local TNR group to help. Otherwise, there may be 6/8 kittens shortly, and in 5 months you can multiply that by another 4/5.
If you feed that cat, PLEASE NEUTER IT.
